Dainty Treasures - Silk Ribbon Flowers

This post is in reference "Vintage Love Saturday" on Southern Lady's Vintage blog.  The theme for this week is up to us...anything vintage.

I really like little silk ribbon flowers and rosettes.  They are so dainty and feminine.  They can be used as millinery flowers or flowers for lingerie pins.  Can you imagine pinning these to your lingerie...hidden from view?! You know that they are there.  I imagine these little darlings can make a woman feel good about herself.  It was all about the little details back then....pintucks...tiny embroidery...tiny lace trim.

These date 1920's and they measure about an inch.

Here is a REALLY pretty one. A dainty rosette!   This one is a little unusual because of the leaf.  Many don't have leaves like this one!

This little flower is adorable.  I really like this one because of the green stamens.

This is a salesman sample. This piece measures 3.5 inches wide. Look at all the ribbon flowers on this.  Roses and daisy like flowers.

How can I repurpose them to fit my lifestyle?...maybe pin them to a cute coin purse or add them to the trim of a lampshade of a small cottage style reading lamp.  But for right now...I have an old large glass jar that I put these little treasures in...and they sit besides fascinating pictorial antique metal buttons, victorian sequins, fancy marbles and old hat pins.

  1. Beautiful little flowers! It's nice a few such delicate pieces have survived.

I am envisioning your glass jar full of vintage treasures ... how fun!
